PROGRAMME ACTION:

This is what Soroptimists DO, 'take action to help Women and Girls', whether it is in our own community or in a far away country.  Soroptimists come together to make a difference, through our programme of work that we call Programme Action.  Here some of the things that S.I. Leigh have done, and continue to do:

As part of the Soroptimist International UK P.A.C. initiative we will be carrying out a survey to establish public awareness and perceptions of Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking across the UK, with the support of the UK Modern Slavery Training Delivery Group, a part of the Governments' strategy to combat slavery.

We will be in Leigh Library on Wednesday 4th October from 1pm - 4pm and Saturday 7th October from 10am - 2pm.  When members of the public can fill out a short survey.
The survey can also be completed online through the following link: www.sigbi.org/ukpac/survey

We are grateful that you are willing to give us a few minutes of your time to share your views with us.

The results of this survey will help the UK Modern Slavery Training Delivery Group and its partners shape future awareness raising campaigns relating to Human Trafficking and Slavery.

Our Garden Themed Evening for the Meru Women's Garden Project  (a three year SIGBI Project in partnership with child.org to educate, empower and enable women in Meru to become self-sufficient)

raised £200 and we also collected a good quantity of jewellery to be recycled.
With a Federation project such as this the only thing the clubs can do to support the project is to find imaginative ways to raise money.  We will continue with the jewellery collection over the course of the project and any donations of old or broken jewellery can be given to any member of S.I. Leigh.
